About The Series
Kodiak Island has drawn me back year after year since the summer I first worked for a helicopter and seaplane pilot. It’s also where I met one of my closest friends, and where many of my adventures have taken place.
This recent trip, however, I got into an ATV accident. And wow it was a blessing in disguise. Slowing down allowed me to study the behavior of one of the largest bears in the world closer than ever before and capture some of the most intimate images I’ve ever taken.
This collection is about seeing these animals for what they truly are—powerful, intelligent, and deeply connected to the landscapes they inhabit. My hope is that these photographs help people experience that same sense of awe, and understand why places like Alaska are worth protecting.
I believe true change begins with awareness and photography has the power to create that. The more we see the beauty and wildness that still exists here, the harder it becomes to imagine losing it.

All prints are produced in partnership with Darkroom & Digital, a fine art printing lab based in South Florida with roots dating back to 1989. What began as Darkroom Productions in a small garage in Fort Lauderdale grew into a dedicated space on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach by 1991.
